Why is Vacation Marketplace different that the other sites focused on Timeshares?

We are firmly committed to break the scam cycle in the timeshare industry.   Many owners have been charged enormous amounts of money on the promise of large cash offers to buy their timeshare only to find their property listed on an anonymous website.  Others have been subjected to long presentations waiting for the "guaranteed offer"  mailings promise only to find out the company wants owners to pay thousands of dollars to "get rid" of their property.   

So, our answer is to offer timeshare owners a way to recoup their mandatory annual fees by renting it to someone wanting bargain travel.   Everyone wins!

Why is a timeshare better than a hotel?

Timeshare facilities have many benefits.  Typically, the “rooms” are more like a small apartment.  Many have multiple bedrooms, a separate bathroom or two, a living area and some type of kitchen facility.   This setup can save additional money as your family won’t be required to eat at restaurants for every meal.

Many resorts have restaurants onsite and frequently have secured grounds for additional security.
 

How can I protect myself as a renter?

As a renter you should use every method to be sure your transaction is valid.  Using a credit card or paypal can offer you a method to recoup your money if there a problem with your reservation.  resort should be able to send you a confirmation letter that will be required when you check in.  In your discussions with the owner, a multi stage payment schedule can be negotiated or an escrow account for funds to be paid after check in occurs.

We encourage you to offer feedback on any resorts you visit..  Your experience will help future renters in their decision.

How can I protect myself as an owner?

As an owner, you should offer a rental agreement that defines the terms and conditions of the rental.  Include the dates of check in and check out, the cost, the payment terms, a method by which you will decide disputes , etc.   Remember, the easier the process is the more likely you’ll have a family that will rent from you again!
 

Does VMI sell timehares?

We do not.  There are many organizations that can help with the sale of timeshares we have chosen to focus on the rental portion of the industry.
 

Does VMI warrant the timeshares listed?

No.  We do require in our terms of use that the listing party has the right, ability and intention to offer the listed property for rent, but we have no way to verify the validity of the listing.  If a renter comes in contact with a fraudulent “owner” we welcome that information.
 

How can I update my property listing?

After you've confirmed your email, log into VMI.  You will directed to you account management screen.  Click on add properties.   The next page you will see is the form you'll fill out to list your property.  This is also the page on which you can edit your listing, account information, and membership data.
 

How much do the memberships cost?

Our membership for the vacation seeker is $19.99 and the owners can register their week for $49.99.

Can I list multiple properties?

Each owner’s membership allows the listing of one property.  Owner’s can list additional properties for a reduced rate of $15 per property.   Additional properties can be added on the My Tools page by clicking on add properties.
 

What if I’m approached by my renter to sell my timeshare?

There is the possibility that a renter will enjoy their visit so much that they would like to own the Timeshare.  If this occurs, there are many brokers that can assist in the transfer of the property.
 

How long is my membership?

Registered owners and vacationers have a one year membership.
